I like to point out this specific paragraph in which it says 'to achieve happiness, prosperity and progress for our nation...'. I can say confidently that as a nation, we have definitely achieved prosperity and progress during these 48 years. How about happiness?
The results were based on telephone and face-to-face interviews with 1,000 adults, aged 15 and older, conducted in 2011 in 148 countries and areas. The poll results were released just a month after Singapore was ranked by Gallup as the least emotional country in the world.
Singapore, a country with one of the lowest unemployment rates and highest GDP per capita rates in the world yet its people barely experience any positive emotions, even as basic as being treated with respect all day.
